Artificial intelligence continues to establish itself as one of the major drivers of transformation in the contemporary world. In just a few months, advances have accelerated at a pace that now surpasses traditional technological cycles. Laboratories, businesses, and public institutions find themselves engaged in a race where each new announcement redefines the boundaries of what is possible.
Language models, which have become faster, more precise, and more versatile, are now being integrated into sectors as diverse as healthcare, education, justice, scientific research, and government. AI is no longer just an assistance tool: it is becoming a work partner, a decision accelerator, and a catalyst for innovation. Governments, for their part, are trying to keep pace by developing regulatory frameworks capable of reconciling innovation, security, and respect for fundamental rights.
At the same time, AI is becoming part of the daily lives of millions of people. Intelligent assistants, recommendation systems, task automation, instant translation, predictive analytics: technology is slipping into our most ordinary actions, often invisibly. This omnipresence is generating as much enthusiasm as it is questions. How can we guarantee the transparency of algorithms? How can we avoid bias? How can we protect personal data in a world where everything is becoming interconnected?
Researchers, for their part, are exploring new frontiers: multimodal AI, autonomous agents, models capable of reasoning, planning, and continuous learning. Some are already talking about a new era, where AI will no longer simply respond, but will be able to anticipate, collaborate, and even co-create with humans. This prospect is as fascinating as it is unsettling, as it challenges our relationship to work, creativity, and knowledge.
In this constantly evolving landscape, one thing is certain: AI is no longer a subject reserved for specialists. It is becoming a collective, cultural, economic, and political issue. A structuring force that shapes our era and whose effects will be felt for decades. The current state of AI is not only technological: it is profoundly human, because it questions our way of living, thinking and imagining the future.
The AI revolution is here to stay, says Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI. In a probing, live conversation with head of TED Chris Anderson, Altman discusses the astonishing growth of AI and shows how models like ChatGPT could soon become extensions of ourselves. He also addresses questions of safety, power and moral authority, reflecting on the world he envisions — where AI will almost certainly outpace human intelligence.
